Historic All-Women Pakistani Team Embarks on K2 Expedition

On Monday, an unprecedented expedition commenced as an all-women Pakistani team set out to conquer K2, one of the world’s most daunting peaks.

Led by experienced mountaineer Sirbaz Khan, the team comprises climbers Anum Uzair, Amina and Siddiqa Hanif, Bibi Afzoon, Sultana Nasab, and Shama Baqir. Organized by Imagine Climb and sponsored by the Pakistan Army, this 45-day endeavor marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s mountaineering history.

Anum Uzair, co-leader of the team, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Being part of an all-women team is empowering, breaking barriers and societal norms.” Their mission extends beyond scaling K2; it aims to inspire and pave the way for future female climbers.

K2, known as the “Savage Mountain,” presents extreme challenges surpassing even Everest, with its harsh conditions and perilous routes.

The expedition not only seeks to reach the summit but also to make a profound statement about strength and determination, setting an example for mountaineers globally.
