The strike of flour mill owners across the country has entered its third day due to which there is fear of shortage due to the stoppage of supply of flour to local markets.
Mill owners have announced a strike until their demands against the withholding tax are recognised, leading to lockdowns and shutdowns at flour mills, halting supply of flour to local markets due to the shutdown. Scarcity is feared.
In this regard, the Flour Mills Association says that the government has not contacted them so far.
On the other hand, like other cities of the country, all the flour mills in Balochistan, including Quetta, are closed. Due to the stoppage of wheat grinding, the supply of flour has stopped in the market. The prices have increased from 200 to 1000 thousand rupees.
On the other hand, the effects of the strike of flour mills have also started to affect the food and drink hotels and tandoors.
Tandoor owners say that they are already worried due to rising labor, gas and electricity bills, now their business has been further affected by the increase in flour prices.
