Pakistan to Counter US Election Probe Resolution with Its Own, Says Deputy PM Ishaq Dar

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced on Thursday that Pakistan plans to draft its own resolution in response to a recent resolution by the US House of Representatives concerning the Pakistani elections.

During a session of the National Assembly chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Dar addressed the US resolution, which called for impartial investigations into alleged irregularities and interference in Pakistan’s general elections held on February 8. “The Foreign Office has responded effectively to the US House resolution, and we will bring forward our own resolution,” Dar stated. “The draft is ready, and we have taken notice of the US resolution and will surely respond.”

The US House resolution, which passed with a significant majority, emphasized the need for a neutral investigation into the reported election irregularities and interference.

Additionally, Dar extended an invitation to the opposition to cooperate on a constitutional amendment to grant voting rights to overseas Pakistanis. “I am ready to discuss giving voting rights to overseas Pakistanis,” he said.
