Unofficial stalls for sacrificial animals constituted in Rawalpindi

Unofficial and illegal sacrificial stalls and tents have been constituted for goats, sheep and calves and sale and purchase is going on in various locations of Rawalpindi to save cattle tax fee, despite strict official directives of Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi, sources disclosed on Monday.

Cattle sellers are found moving along with their livestock in Commercial Market, Rehman Abad, Raja Bazar, Chur Chowk, Misrial and Dhoke Gujran creating several problems for citizens who are busy in Eid shopping’ along with their families.

Cattle which are brought from villages across Punjab, are not familiar with public and traffic often get frightened and run away from their owners after breaking their ropes injuring citizens who come on their way.

Cattle Mandi has been announced by city administration in Bhaata Chowk but due to the feel and other relevant charges cattle sellers prefer to sale their animals in busiest localities of area, a cattle seller with a request of anonymity told Citizens View.

Cattle fodder is very expensive, green fodder price is also very high. Khal, Choker and Bhusa prices are also very high and almost twenty-five to thirty thousand of Rupees have been spent to transfer animals from far flung villages to city and the fee is very high. Purchasers are not giving price of their choice, where should we go, he questioned.

Cattle prices are already very high and so we are forced to sale them away from cattle mandi. Cattle tax was imposed without taking us into consultation. Few years back nominal prices were charged but now tax is very high.

Well placed RMC source was questioned about this issue and it expressed resolve to make the sellers abide by the set SOP’s at every cost and expressed that all the unofficial tents and stalls will be removed without bearing any type of pressure to make the Cattle Mandi a successful event where all buyers will be provided with all civic facilities.
