The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast indicating hot and dry weather conditions prevailing over Lahore and much of Punjab from Wednesday night through Friday.
A typical continental air mass dominates most of Pakistan, with a shallow westerly wave affecting the upper and western regions. As a result, Wednesday night is expected to witness predominantly hot and dry conditions across most districts of the province. Similarly, Thursday and Friday are anticipated to experience hot and dry weather across most areas, with central and southern districts likely to bear the brunt of extreme heat.
Furthermore, there is a likelihood of isolated instances of partly cloudy weather accompanied by rain, wind, or thunderstorms in various areas during the afternoon and evening, including Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, among others. Additionally, partly cloudy weather with similar precipitation patterns may occur in Murree, Galyat, and neighboring regions during the evening and night.
For Lahore specifically, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 40-42°C on Thursday and 41-43°C on Friday. Over the past 24 hours, Lahore and most districts of the province experienced hot and dry weather conditions, with central and southern areas witnessing a persistent heatwave.
Dera Ghazi Khan recorded the highest temperature in Punjab at 46°C, coupled with a relative humidity of 19% in the evening. Meanwhile, Lahore registered a maximum temperature of 42°C, with a relative humidity of 33% in the evening.
