Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asserted on Thursday that the nation would not grant forgiveness to those responsible for the vandalism on May 9.
During a special session of the federal cabinet chaired by the premier, memories of the May 9 riots were revisited. PM Shehbaz emphasized that despite the passage of a year, the perpetrators remain etched in the memory of the nation. “May 9 stands not only as one of the darkest days in our nation’s history but also highlights the divergence in ideologies,” he remarked.
Shehbaz elaborated further, stating, “On one side stand the brave sons, their families, and the patriotic masses, while on the other side, there are individuals who hold no regard for national interests.”
In a separate tribute to the martyrs of May 9, Federal Minister for Privatisation Aleem Khan expressed his deep respect for the sacrifices made by the armed forces. “The Pakistan Army holds a special place in my heart, as it is the guardian of our nation’s sovereignty,” he remarked.
Acknowledging the sacrifices made by the martyrs, the president of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) extended his heartfelt gratitude to those who laid down their lives for the country.
